We all have busy lives outside of our iSchool studies …. and two students, SLMS graduate student Melissa McDonald (left) and 2012 Alumna Pam Hosimer, MLS, have been long-time Girl Scout leaders, providing not only their own daughters, but countless other girls, with many opportunities to learn and grow, and empowering them to become future leaders. Melissa uses many of her information technology skills to teach, lead, connect with her two troops and others in Girl Scouting; Pam has created a series of lessons incorporating agriculture, gardening, and recycling and has presented the project to the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.
Melissa and Pam, along with 200,000 of their closest Girl Scout sisters, Rocked the Mall on June 9th, in celebration of Girl Scouting’s 100th Anniversary – an all day event that brought scouts from all over the world to join together in song. Trying to capture the awesome scene between the Washington Monument and the World War II Monument, Melissa shot this panoramic view of Rock the Mall:
